What I want to share with you is that I am financially independent. It means that my wife and I have the choice of whether we want to work or not.

When I started everyone was doing the same as everyone else - commuting for a pittance
Like most people, when I was at school I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life. I had some vague fantasies about being 'successful' but didn't really know what that meant. I thought that if I could ever earn £25,000 I would be happy. That seemed like sooooo much money to me at the time.
When I got my first job and wasn't living with my parents anymore, I started having my own expenses - rent, food, utilities etc. and suddenly the £25,000 didn't seem that much. I wanted more, but getting more didn't seem possible. All I knew was to work harder, longer and more and maybe I would get a pay rise. The problem was, I didn't like getting up in the mornings, I didn't enjoy the commuting, squashed in with thousands of other people. I felt like I had to, I felt trapped, but above all I felt bewildered. You see I thought I was special, different. How could this happen to me - I was in a rut and that's what is supposed to happen to other people, isn't it?
I looked around for inspiration from my family. My grandparents had been renting the same house all their lives and died penniless. My father had a high paying job but without any financial education he spent all his money. Now the bank owns the house he lives in.
I felt that something wasn't quite right here
I looked at my 'mates'. They were running around trying to make enough money to cover their expenses. In between working, they would use their 'free time' to meet up with people similar to themselves so they could feel as if everything was ok. After all, if their mates were in the same situation, it made it ok not to have money either.They bought things they didn't need just to feel better about their finances, but it just made things worse.
I looked around for guidance from people who would know better - my bosses at work. After all, they were intelligent people, leaders of men, earned a lot of money. They had large cars and houses and families to look after. But I noticed that they had exactly the same problems. They had to work to meet their larger bills and larger mortgage payments.
I wasn't inspired, I was shocked.
Until one day I decided to open my eyes ...
There was something not quite right here. One day I decided to open my eyes wider and I suddenly saw what had been in front of my eyes all this time, I just hadn't seen it. There were other people - the kind of people who always had money and didn't look like they were working hard. They seemed happier, healthier and more relaxed. They weren't worried, they were achieving great things but didn't call it 'work'. Most of them weren't working for someone else.
I suddenly understood that not only was there a better way, one that would lead to a life of fulfillment, happiness, gratitude and purpose. All I had to do was to decide to do the same things as these people. And I did. Today I can say that we have a great life ... and it's just getting better and better. We live life with a sense of purpose. We no longer have to work if I didn't find it so exciting. We have properties and land in 5 countries, I run several businesses, invest in start up companies and invest with seven figure numbers in the stock market. And this is just the start.
And I discovered a formula for creating financial wealth ...
Here's the point. There really is a secret formula for creating real wealth. It isn't sexy, exciting or get-rich-quick. (Well, actually, it IS quite exciting when you hear it.) Anyone can do it. All it takes is a bit of focused time, help from someone who has done it and a willingness never to give up. You can do that, right?
And don't listen to the little voice inside your head that is telling you it's not for people like you, or you are not good enough, or you are too young, old, too whatever ... that you are not good at maths or finance or all of this ... because I had those same beliefs and I can tell you it's just not true.
Which anyone can do ...
Creating wealth is as simple as you want it to be. You get to decide. You can decide today that enough is enough, that you deserve more out of life, that you can leave a legacy for yourself and your family.
